Lets discuss Bali!
18 mei: After a good night sleep I went and got some breakfast, which contained of toast and egg. It was basic, but good and included. After that I did some planning for the rest of my stay. I booked a guide for a day. I wanted to go into town, so I asked for a taxi. Walking was no option, it was too far away!! It dropped me at some mall thing. I walked around for a bit, got some food and got a taxi back. I immediately tested my negociating skills and got him to take me for $5, normally $12 and up. Whoepwhoep! Unfortunately he didnt find the place either, so I had him call the hotel for directions. He asked me again, yeah like I know. When I was walking to my room, I saw some people sitting outside. Omgosh people!! I talked to them for a bit, they were about my age and ended up with a dinner date. Later that day we met again and went into town for dinner. They had been there for a couple of days so knew some good spots. I had some good curry for $4!! Ridiculous! We went for drinks after and had a good night.
19 mei: I met the couple for breakfast, they were unfortunately leaving that day, but we exchanged info. I arranged a guide to take me to some temples that day. A friend of mine recommended him and he spoke Dutch which made me feel a little better. He took me to Uluwatu, Tanah Lot and Ulun Danu Beratan (for the people who've been here). It was really nice!! He also explained a lot along the way which was nice. We stopped somewhere to have lunch. He or the driver didnt eat or ate outside, anyway I ate inside alone. It was a buffet and in line I got to talking with some woman. She invited me to sit with her and her husband and son. They were American and on holiday visiting their son, who lived in Sanur. They were very friendly and it was fun talking to someone. They even paid for my food, after a series of 'no thats okay' ending with 'thank you so much'. Back at the hotel I ordered some food from there, ate it in my room and packed. I was leaving the next day.
20 mei: Slept in and went into town. I had to arrange the transport to Gili. At one of the stalls I had everything done and when I wanted to pay I put the wrong bill on the counter. It was 50.000 instead of 500.000. The guy started laughing at me and I felt so humiliated and then angry. He was making fun of me. If he had just explained that that was 50 and he needed 500, I would have just got it. But he pissed me off so I said 'stick it' in some nicer words and went to Starbucks. I deserved it. After that I tried again and succeeded. I got a taxi after that. This time the taxi stopped somewhere and swore it was the right address. After arguing for 5 min that it wasnt the place, I got out. I wanted to slap him so bad. Idiot! Luckily for me there were two guys there and one drove me to the hotel on his motorcycle. This hotel was too hidden and secluded, I didnt really like it. The hotel itself was great and beautiful, but the location is awful if you dont have your own transportation. And me on a bike there.. Aint happening! Booked my accomodation for Gili Trawangan and Ubud and relaxed for the rest of the day.
21-23 mei: off to Gili Trawangan! The shuttle was late and apparently been driving since 6, it picked me up at 8.30. The people in it werent rewlly up for talking, so we drove for 1,5 hours to Panai Bay in silence. There I had a fast boat to Gili. It stopprd first at Lombok, then Gili Air and last Gili Trawangan. The boat was packed, seats close together (I touched the seat in front of me and that is saying something). It was a wobbly ride and I felt kinda sick getting off after almost 2 hours. You were directky on the beach getting of the boat. After deflecting 20 questions of room room I walked towards my hotel, the Black Penny. The roads in Gili are nothing like in Aus. Tripped a couple of times, no actual fall (jeij) and arrived at the hotel. The room I had had its own little pool (jacuzzi size), a big bed and a nice shower. After checking it out and dumping my bags, I went out to look for somewhere to eat. I ended up at the restaurant from the hotel and had some good Indonesian food. The rest of the day I spend in my room and pool, relaxing.
The next day started with some breakfast, nothing fancy. After that I walked around for a bit, getting some souvenirs. Had some food, went for a swim, read, relaxed, slept.
Gili Trawangan check! I had the fast boat back to Bali at 12. Unfortunately I did fall down this time and with 30kg of bagage, it hurt! Now a different company, much better! They had shuttles taking you do different parts of the island. I was going to Ubud. It took almost 1,5 hours to get there. He dropped me somewhere and it took 10 min to walk to my hotel. The hotel was awesome, it looked so pretty. My room is nice and this time a shower inside! I went for some food after dropping my bags, cause I was soo hungry. Hadnt eaten anything since 9AM. Nothing special the rest of the evening.
24 mei: Monkey Forest today. It was right next to the hotel, so it took me 2 min to get there. When you go there you can buy food for the monkeys. I knew how that would go, so I passed. Half of the time I spend looking at how people got attacked by monkeys for the food. It was hilarious, especially if they dont expect it and they scream. Muwhahah! Other than that there were somr pretty temples and of course monkeys everywhere. The rest of the day I relaxed at the hotel.
25 mei: day of relaxation! I got a massage (whooole body.. It was weird!), after a dip in the pool and some food, I also had my nails done. It turned out a little too girly for me, but oh well! Didnt do much else.
26-28 mei: I checked out around 10 and asked for a taxi to Kuta. It would take about an hour. The taxi driver kept asking me if I'd been there and there. One thing he mentioned I wanted to do and that was go to a coffee plantation. It was nice! I got a short tour and could taste all the coffee and tea they grow there. Around 12 I arrived at the homestay. I walked around Kuta a bit, but it was sooo hot that I spend the rest of the day watching tv haha.
The next day I was meeting up with the couple I met in Sanur, Laura and Carl. They had been there a couple of days and took me to some different streets and stores. We walked along the beach, had some good and CHEAP food and a lot of laughs. It was a good day!
The last day in Kuta, and Bali, I spend with Laura and Carl as well. We went to a mall and ended up playing games in an arcade for 3 hours. We fek0lt like little kids, it was soooo much fun!! After we were tired, so we kinda chilled by the pool. Before I went to the airport, we had Starbucks. After another goodbye I went to the airport. There you had to pay an exit fee. Ididnt have enough rupiah left, so I had to go to an atm. There I put one to many zeros and now are stuck with too many rupiah. Urgh I could kill the woman who told me 'no only cash'. After a short flight I arrived in Melbourne at 6AM.
That all mates!

Save flight home to the Netherlands!!

Safe journey & Gr.
